Our hearts are heavy as we mourn the Asian lives lost

In 2021, we welcomed a new Administration that condemned racism of all kinds and specifically denounced the vicious hate crimes against individuals of Asian descent. And today, the House Judiciary panel held a hearing to address the rise in discrimination and violence against Asian American communities. These acts of violence have increased significantly since last March, and the recent headlines of Asian murders evokes yet another swell of anger, fear, and sadness.

We stand beside our Asian-American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) communities to condemn all acts of racism, violence against women, and hate that continue to be inflicted on communities of color.

As a human rights organization, we are obligated to confront the bigotry debilitating our society and impeding real progress towards equity and opportunity for all. This includes working to dismantle systems built upon white supremacy that perpetuate division, inequity, and violence.

The work of our Anti-Racism Response Council has expanded four-fold through Racial Equity Working Groups that launched last month. Together, we are charting the path forward to becoming an explicitly anti-racist organization that relentlessly pursues racial equity through systems, policies, and practices.
