HAI Provides Supplies & Support Amidst Shortages in Lebanon

In Lebanon, Heartland Alliance International (HAI) responds to gender-based violence, promotes sexual and reproductive health, and fosters gender equity and women’s empowerment. We work with women and girls impacted by the crisis in Syria, as well as with the Lebanese host population.

“I don’t want any financial aid, I need someone to listen to my sorrow – I live alone and days feel like years,” said Laurice.

Many individuals and families need psychological support following the explosion in Beirut. HAI is working with the the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) to ensure women and girls have access to safe spaces, psychological first aid, and long-term counselling. Laurice, is one of many women HAI and UNFPA are supporting with emergency care.

The ongoing economic and political crises, coupled with the COVID-19 pandemic and the recent explosion in Beirut, have led to massive shortages across Lebanon. In response, HAI has adapted to delivering telehealth services, health and hygiene supplies, and emergency support.
