Support Heartland Alliance participants during the COVID-19 crisis

As a human rights organization, the health and well-being of our participants, volunteers, and employees is always our topmost priority. And we know that the people Heartland Alliance serves–the people who are the most marginalized and vulnerable among us–have the least access to the information, resources, and care they need, and that is particularly true now.

Donate to help us respond to this crisis.

Our commitment is to act boldly and continue serving our participants–many of whom fall in the highest-risk categories for contracting COVID-19, including the elderly, those experiencing homelessness, individuals with significant mental health needs, the medically fragile, those with co-occurring health conditions, immigrants, refugees, and asylum seekers. Heartland Alliance is following the guidance and directives from the CDC and public officials to mitigate the risk of exposure and slow the spread of COVID-19 within the communities we serve.

The majority of Heartland Alliance’s funding is restricted, and we need flexible dollars in order to provide real-time, emergency assistance and supports to our participants. COVID-19 has already led to unprecedented demands for our services, a shortage of supplies and resources, as well as the cancellation of important fundraising events that exacerbate the impact of this crisis for our work.

Making a gift will help us:

  • Expand our specialized mobile health services and check-ups for the homeless who are less likely to make it to our clinics.
  • Engage our shelter partners to identify those participants who are most at risk for the virus.
  • Deliver nutritious food for participants who can no longer come to our grocery centers.
  • Provide Health, mental health, and legal assistance for immigrants, refugees and asylum seekers.
  • Offer rental assistance for individuals whose income is at high risk due to COVID-19.
  • Secure medical supplies and personal protective equipment for front-line health, residential, and outreach staff.
  • Disseminate materials and resources to individuals who are susceptible to myths about their risk of contracting or spreading COVID-19.
  • Support our international teams that are working to slow the spread of COVID-19 in the Middle East, Africa, and Latin America.
  • Provide other critical supports for participants and participant-facing employees in this urgent time.

In these uncertain times, what remains constant is our community of courageous champions of human rights. We are grateful for the support and care you have for the individuals we serve, and for our employees who are on the frontlines every day. We thank you for your generous support during this time.
